    Fraud Investigations Specialist

    The Specialist position for Fraud Investigations plays a key individual contributor role within the Fraud Investigations (FI) group of the Financial Crimes Risk Management Organization (FCRM).  The primary responsibility for the Specialist is to take an incident referral from its initial evaluation and prioritization through to completion, determining the facts of each case and clearly and accurately recording these in the investigative record.  Vital aspects of this process include the recovery of funds lost from custody and fulfilling all regulatory requirements, such as the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR).  These investigations require the ability to conduct effective telephone interviews and forensic research, and document the written results in the case management system in a clear and logical manner.  Membership in the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) is supported and encouraged. 

    What you’ll do:

  • Conduct effective telephone interviews and forensic research

  • Document written results in the case management system

  • Interact with our most significant business partners including: Identity Theft Team, Customer Verification & Research Center, Move Money Solutions and Operations, on a daily basis.

  • Assist in other key functions of the Fraud Investigations team such as both the team’s internal and external email inbox

  • Be responsible for managing your case assignment and queue

  • Establish relationships with peer financial institutions and fraud investigators

  • Assist in recovery efforts of funds lost from custody

  • Provide case summaries to management and senior leadership

  • File regulatory reports (i.e. SARS) after conducting your investigation

  • What you have:

  • At least 2 - 3 years of professional experience working in a fraud, compliance or risk environment of the financial services industry or financial investigations experience in Federal, State or local law enforcement

  • Customer service and/or phone interview experience

  • Ability to make strong individual contributions to the development of high functioning and effective teams

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently

  • Demonstrated skills related to individual case/workload management

  • Proven success working cooperatively with peers and other business units

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers and clients

  • Demonstrates sound judgment and decision making in situations involving risk to our clients and the firm

  • Demonstrated ability to correctly make risk-based, informed decisions while working in a regulatory and/or criminal investigations environment

  • Exhibits sound analytical ability, investigative methodology and problem-solving skills

  • Strong time management skills utilizing a risk based approach to prioritizing and completing daily tasks

  • Ability to analyze issues and develop problem solving methodology with minimal guidance

  • Exceptional client focus; ability to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence

  • BS/BA degree preferred

  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and related designations a plus

    Project Coordinator

    Our Project Services organization supports Schwab business goals through the delivery of projects spanning technology, operations, business continuity, and offshore management. Our team collaborates across a matrixed organization to deliver business value through efficient, disciplined and predictable project execution of effective solutions to business problems and opportunities.

    What you’ll do:

  • Support project/program management on large initiatives through the following activities, and over time will begin to manage small projects:

  • Assist with managing project forecasts and reconcile with actuals, including invoice processing

  • Track resource allocations and actuals

  • Assist with the creation of presentations to project/program leadership

  • Manage project documentation in SharePoint

  • Calendar and plan for meetings and workshops

  • Publish meeting agendas, take meeting minutes, track risks and issues

  • Assist with the tracking of business and technical deliverables and keeping the project plan up to date

    Required minimum qualifications include:

  • 1 to 3 years of commensurate experience

    Asia Equity Trader

    Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $340 billion under management in mutual funds and ETFs.     What you’ll do:

    The Asia Equity Trader will be an experienced trading expert with a specialty in Asian equities. The role will include: executing equity trades in compliance with CSIM’s best execution policy during Asian market hours, enhancing relationships with trading counterparties of the firm; developing and articulating CSIM’s position on regional market structure, and working closely with the CSIM Capital Markets Team to support the ETF create/redeem process. This role requires deep expertise in international equity trading and a strong understanding of regional microstructure. The Asia Equity Trader will work closely with the active and passive portfolio management teams and will represent the trading team in all matters related to Asian equity execution.

    Investment Credit Analyst

    The Corporate Credit Research team is situated within Market and Investment Risk under the Corporate Risk Management organization. The team’s mandate is to ensure strong issuer and counterparty credit quality through fixed income research and credit analysis in support of the investment portfolios and other corporate needs. The team also contributes significantly to credit risk management by identifying potential risk and communicating exposures to senior management and other business partners through an internally-developed credit administration database system.

    What you’ll do:

    In this position, you will:

  • Conduct issuer and counterparty credit analysis for various investment portfolios and affiliates.

  • Communicate with internal portfolio managers, internal and external analysts, rating agencies, and external company management and recommend dollar and maturity limits for issuers and counterparties.

  • Play a crucial role in continuing to develop our credit administration database system.

  • Be a self-starter that can quickly assume a broad range of responsibilities.

  • Conduct and present independent comprehensive credit analyses and provide surveillance of banks, corporates, and broker-dealers.

  • Support credit risk management through the use of industry data, issuer-provided financial information, and internal data.

  • Monitor macroeconomic and geopolitical environments for any potential impact on our portfolio.

  • Assist in producing internal reports describing our credit risks and exposures. Generate timely reporting for our business partners and regulatory filings.

  • Collaborate with developers to automate reporting functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Progress toward CFA and/or MBA preferred.

  • Ideally 1 to 3 years of relevant experience performing issuer and counterparty credit analysis.

  • Sound high-level understanding of global macroeconomic factors and current events.

  • Well-developed organizational and interpersonal skills; strong computer and spreadsheet skills.

  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, to interact with outside analysts, business partners, and senior management at Schwab.
